Here are a few notes that Sonja and Lucy took away from the shows - special sentiments that speak to these brands’ ethoses, and part of why we love having them at Scotties Boutique:
Comme des Garcons A/W 26
Words from Rei Kawakubo on the collection
< In the end, there is black.
I have come to realize that, after all, black is the colour for me >>
We agree that black is eternal, too, Rei!
Noir Kei Ninomiya A/W 26
Titled Dark Blooming, Kei Ninomiya said of his collection: “There is this sadness in the world in this new century… But we should make it positive.”
We really felt this with the floral motifs throughout, like new life and hope sprouting.
Junya Watanabe A/W 26
“born from pure creative instinct, free from conventional notions of dressmaking. Through the direct presentation of raw materials, this approach expresses the surrounding social environment.”
We thought the show's title summed it up beautifully: The Art of Assemblage Couture.
Yohji Yamamoto A/W 26
Notes from the show
“Yohji Yamamoto encourages you to be present and experience the presentation with your eyes rather than your screen. Let the moment, the movement and the clothing speak to you – they are meant to be felt with your senses, not merely digitally recorded.”
We did truly feel the atmosphere of this show, it was an honour to attend.
Issey Miyake A/W 26
In the hands of designer Satoshi Kondo, it was titled: “Creating, Allowing”
We thought it was a symphony of restrained, sculptural elegance from the brand we know and love so well.
Other recent highlights involved a visit to The Row showrooms, where quiet elegance filtered down to the snacks! Butlers served silver platters of sweet Madeleines and Caneles. At Acne Studios, they had the coolest interior design, right down to their own Acne Newspaper stand, and they made a perfect matcha latte.
With love,
