Sacai

Prior to launching her label Sacai in 1998, and as is almost a rite of passage for Japanese designers, Chitose Abe developed and grew as a designer under the watch of Comme des Garçons’ Rei Kawakubo and Junya Watanabe. Sacai quickly became recognised for its seamlessly integrated contrasting textures and fabrics. With a view to creating clothing that can be worn for any occasion, Sacai appropriate classic outerwear, dresses and knitwear into new and unfamiliar hybrids. Fabric patchworks and asymmetric combinations are a staple of the Sacai visual identity.
